Hopeful for 2017...
Hello Everyone,
2016 was an interesting year for me. I had some ups and some downs, and things didn’t go the way I thought they would very much of the time. I am waving goodbye to 2016 as a year that I grew from and never want to return to. I am thankful to be in 2017 and I am hopeful that this will be my year.
Some sad news before we launch into things 2017 will bring. 2016 brought a lot of separation. Nathan, Brittany, and Kyle all quit the band in the latter months of they year. I thank them for all they’ve done. Nathan spent around half a year in the band on and off, Brittany stayed about a year, and Kyle was in the group for over three years. I will miss them all dearly. They are very talented musicians and I hope t they keep music a constant in their lives.
2016 was also the year of deception. I am sad to announce that Big Entertainment breached their contract and it took me five months to remove their music from iTunes. To be more specific, ‘You Are More’ was one of the songs on their compilation album, and they never paid me or sent me an earnings statement, which they were contractually obligated to do. After several attempts, I finally got things resolved and I was able to move on and be at peace with the results.
Now, on to 2017! I am excited to announce that my first song of the year will be released on January 20. ‘Try Everything’ was a song originally by Shakira written for the Zootopia soundtrack. We recently purchased the rights to this cover and are so excited to present this uplifting and encouraging song to you. This is my theme song for 2017 and I hope it moves you as it has me.
We are spending the month of January recording for my new album, Is Anybody Listening? That is set to release in October of 2017. Josh and Keenan will be coming down to the studio to record this month, and Josh has graciously agreed to replace Kyle on the album. February will be the month of BGVs. Robert, Kristin, Mallory, and I will spend that month doing all of the backing vocals of the new album.
We have two gigs in Springfield, IL this month. If you are in Central, IL, you have to chances to come out to Church of God where we will be leading worship. Check out the tour page for more info.
Lastly, I am excited about 2017. I know that God has a plan for me and I believe that it will come to pass this year. I believe the words that have been spoken over me by loads of people, and I know that God has a plan for me. I pray that my will is his will and that I won’t divert. I want to honor the Lord with every step I take, every song I sing, and with every note I play.
Thanks for your continued support through my journey, and I hope you are as excited about 2017 as I am. God Bless!
